DDC ABO Blood Type Calculation

The DDC ABO Blood Type Calculator can be used to predict probable paternity. However, in cases where definitive results are required, a legal paternity test or paternity test should be done.

Usage areas of ABO blood group calculator;

1. If the blood types of the parents are known, for possible ABO blood groups of the child (see above table)

2. If the blood types of the mother and child are known, for possible ABO blood groups of the father (see lower table)

Father's Blood type: Father's blood type

Mother's Blood type: Mother's blood type

Child's Blood type: Child's blood type

Understanding ABO Blood groups can be difficult. This is usually the case when the type O antigen is masked by the presence of type A or B antigens. The chart below shows the different genotypes.

Genotype (DNA)

BO  or BB

type A blood

EU  type blood

B  type blood

 HE  type blood

E.g; Parents with type O blood only produce children with type O blood. Two parents with type A blood produce children with type A or O blood. Two parents with type B blood produce children with type B or O blood. If one of the couples is A and the other is B, they produce a child with type A, B, AB or O blood. If one is A and the other is AB, they produce children with type A, B or AB blood. If one is A and the other is O, they produce children with type A or O blood.

Rh Positive (Rh+) and Rh Negative (Rh-) blood groups

The Rh (+/-) factor comes separately from the ABO blood groups. Similar to the masking of the O gene in the ABO blood groups, the Rh negative (Rh-) gene is also masked due to the presence of the Rh positive (Rh+). Therefore, someone with the Rh+ blood group can have the Rh- gene. (See the table below) Also, two parents who are Rh+ can have Rh- children.
